BEL incurs the costs associated with maintaining the poles, lines, cables and other network equipment used to distribute power to connected consumers. In addition we are charged by Transpower for our connection and use of the national grid. All of these costs are passed on to consumers as electricity delivery charges on the monthly power bills consumers receive from their electricity retailer.
Electricity retailer power bills include the charges for the cost of the electricity that you have consumed, and the cost of delivering this electricity to your premises. Your electricity retailer then pays BEL the electricity delivery charges.
