DAMAGED POWER LINES OR POLES

If you tangle an item in a power line, cut through an underground cable or spot any downed or damaged power lines or poles, please call your electricity retailer or Buller Electricity immediately to report the damage. If there is immediate danger to life or a risk of fire, please call 111 and ask for the relevant authorities, prior to contacting your electricity retailer or Buller Electricity.

Treat all power lines and cables as live, ensuring people are kept well away from the area (at least 10 metres away, where possible).

 Remember, in an emergency – do not move people or machinery as doing so will result in the risk of receiving a fatal electric shock.
